In the application of livestock pen lining board (Livestock Wall Liner / Animal Pen Liner), HDPE sheet becomes the preferred material due to its impact resistance, corrosion resistance, easy cleaning, and anti-freeze cracking characteristics. The following are the common specifications and requirements for HDPE sheets required for manufacturing corral linings:
Recommended specifications for HDPE corral linings:
| Item | Recommended parameter description |
| Thickness | 6 mm – 12 mm (standard); 15 mm+ is optional for heavy-load areas |
| Length × Width | Conventional 4’×8’ (1220×2440mm), custom sizes are also available |
| Color | Black, green, white or blue-gray (common); color is optional but easy to clean and identify |
| Surface treatment | Smooth surface (easy to clean) / frosted non-slip surface (to prevent animal injuries) |
| Material grade | 100% new HDPE or food-grade HDPE (commonly used in pig sheds/dairy farms) |
| UV stability | It is recommended to use sheets with UV anti-aging agents for outdoor corrals |
| Impact resistance | High impact resistance is required, not easily damaged by cattle, horses, etc. |
| Temperature adaptability | -40°C to +80°C, cold and frost resistant |
Reference for use area and recommended thickness:
Use area Recommended thickness range
General wall panel 6 – 8 mm
Impact area of cow shed/horse pen 10 – 12 mm
Pig enclosure/partition board 8 – 10 mm
Door board or movable board ≥12 mm
Installation suggestions:
Fix with screws, rivets, slots or special clips;
It is recommended to reserve thermal expansion and contraction gaps (about 3-5 mm) between the boards;
Pre-drill holes on the HDPE board to avoid cracking during installation;
To enhance durability, a supporting keel or steel frame structure can be installed on the back of the board.
Advantages of HDPE for livestock pen lining:
Resistant to ammonia corrosion and urine erosion, non-absorbent;
Easy to clean, no bacterial growth;
Good flexibility, not easy to break;
Environmentally friendly and recyclable, durable and low cost;
The surface can be sprayed with code or engraved for identification management.
