Installing polyethylene ground protection mats is a relatively simple and quick task, but in order to ensure safety, stability and protection, standard steps must still be followed. The following is a detailed installation guide:
I. Preparation

- Site survey
Confirm the ground conditions (whether it is flat, soft, and whether there are protruding stones).
Mark the area to be paved.
Determine the tonnage of the vehicle or equipment to be used, and choose the appropriate thickness and connection method. - Choose the right pad
Conventional load-bearing vehicles → HDPE 12~20mm;
Heavy equipment (cranes, etc.) → HDPE/UHMWPE 20~40mm;
Muddy or sandy ground → It is recommended to use a double-sided pad with anti-slip pattern. - Prepare tools
Handling tools (forklift, crane or manpower)
Pad connectors (metal pins, plastic buckles, wire rope buckles)
Measuring tools, gloves, safety helmets, etc.
II. Installation steps
Step 1: Ground cleaning
Remove large stones and sharp debris to ensure that the ground is flat;
If the ground is too soft, you can lay geotextile first to increase stability.
Step 2: Lay pads
Lay them sequentially from one end of the ground;
The edges between pads should be aligned and aligned to avoid misalignment;
Two-person operation can more effectively avoid displacement.
Step 3: Connect pads
Use pins or connectors to connect adjacent plates;
For pads with patterned surfaces, it is recommended to install them facing up (to enhance friction);
It is recommended to use steel connectors to enhance firmness in heavy-load areas.
Step 4: Check and adjust
Make sure each piece is laid flat and has no warping edges;
Check whether the connectors are tight;
Check whether there are obvious depressions or slippage on the surface. - Common connection methods
Connector type Advantages Application scenarios
Metal latch Firm and reliable, strong load resistance Heavy machinery, lifting area
Nylon connector Quick installation, suitable for light load area Personnel passage, event venue
Integrated fastener Space saving, anti-tripping Concert, exhibition floor - Removal and cleaning
Reverse the removal order and remove piece by piece;
Rinse the pad with high-pressure water or detergent;
Pack and store after drying to avoid sun exposure and squeezing.
