Advantages:
Extremely high load-bearing capacity: a single steel plate can withstand hundreds of tons of heavy equipment (crawler cranes, engineering vehicles, etc.);
Good strength and rigidity: stable performance on hard ground or extreme conditions;
Suitable for extremely heavy industrial use: such as oil field drilling, wind power hoisting, bridge construction, etc.
Disadvantages:
Very heavy: a 4×8 foot steel plate weighs about 300-500kg and requires a crane to move;
Easy to rust and high risk of slipping: regular maintenance, rust prevention and anti-slip grooves are required;
High transportation costs: trucks or forklifts are required for loading and unloading;
Great ground damage: if not padded, it is easy to crush lawns, brick surfaces, and underground structures;
Higher construction costs: including installation and labor costs.
