UHMW-PE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene)
Features: extremely high wear resistance and low friction coefficient, it is the top material for fenders.
Advantages: smooth berthing without damaging the ship, long life, maintenance-free.
Recommended applications: heavy-load berths, large container ports, roll-on/roll-off terminals, frequent berthing areas.
HDPE (high-density polyethylene)
Features: high strength, good processability, and relatively balanced performance.
Advantages: moderate price, suitable for light and medium-sized fender projects.
Recommended applications: berthing of small and medium-sized ships, civilian floating docks, and non-heavy industrial areas.
Recycled PE (recycled polyethylene)
Features: low cost, but large performance fluctuations.
Advantages: economical and affordable, suitable for temporary projects or low-frequency use environments.
Disadvantages: easy to crack, poor durability, not recommended for main structure fenders.
Recommended applications: temporary docks, simple baffles, anti-scratch devices and other non-main load-bearing areas.
